Welcome to the Transition Linlithgow Tool Library!
We are a community resource in Linlithgow providing members with access to tools and equipment for DIY, woodworking, decorating, gardening and more. The majority of our inventory has been donated by other members and individuals from the local community.
Please feel free to browse our inventory.
Become a Tool Library Member
Membership applications pack's can be downloaded from our website and handed into the Transition Linlithgow office at Unit 5 Braehead Business Units, Braehead Road, Linlithgow, EH49 6EP. Alternatively, you can sign up online.
There are two ways to become a full member of the Transition Linlithgow Tool Library:
Donate Some Tools
If you would like to earn 6 months FREE membership then please bring along any tool donations to the The Workshop at Donaldson's School on Preston Road every Tuesday night between 4pm and 8pm or through prior agreement with a member of staff outside of these times. You can also contact firstname.lastname@example.org about organising a collection (subject to travel distances/number of tools).
Donate Some Money
The suggested donation is £20 for a years membership. However, it's more important to us that the local community has easy access to the tools they need, so if £20 is more than you can afford we ask you pay only what you can.
Full membership is then activated after showing photo ID/recent proof of current address. If you have any problems you can contact email@example.com
How Does The Tool Library Work?
Reserve tools through MyTurn. Simply login and pick your item and collection date.
Please note that we prepare tool reservations in advance and some of our tools are stored off-site. Order before 1pm on you day of collection to guarantee your reservation. If you're not sure which tools you need for a specific job then contact us or pop in for a chat and some friendly advice! If we don't know the answer to will try to find someone who does.
Come along to the Workshop at Donaldson's School on Preston Road on your chosen collection date and your item will be waiting for you! There will usually be some volunteers kicking about working on various projects so feel free to stay for a chat and a cup of tea.
If this is your first time collecting you will need to provide payment (either a tool or chosen cash amount) and photo ID/recent proof of address.
After you have finished with your item bring it back to the next in clean, working order ready to be borrowed again. If you need a bit more time you can extend your reservation on MyTurn or contact firstname.lastname@example.org. In special circumstances arrangements can be made to return tools outside a normal tool borrowing session, get in touch for details.
We love our volunteers! Their time and expertise allows us to do more for the local community. If you would like to join our growing team of volunteers check our website for more information. No experience is necessary.
