Welcome to Linlithgow Tool Library

We are a community resource providing members with access to a wide range of tools and equipment for DIY, woodworking, decorating, gardening, games and more.

Please join us and support the transition to a Circular Economy where we buy less, share more and make efficient use of the things we do need.

Join

Simply sign up online. Creating an account will allow you to reserve & hire items from our inventory.

Your first years membership is just £25. (subsequent years are currently £20). You can pay online via (stripe) or in person at the Hub where we can accept cash or card.

Should this annual fee be a barrier to you, please let us know as we want to ensure fair access to all.

How does the Tool Library work?

Reserve

Login, browse and select your item(s) and set a collection date.

Please note that we require time to prepare tool reservations. Please Order before 1pm on Sunday for Monday pickup,  before 1pm on Monday for Tuesday pickup or 1pm on Thursday for Friday pickup.

Collect

Drop into the Hub (the Old Library) to collect your tools.  Our volunteers can assist to bring out items to your car if required.

If this is your first time collecting please e-mail a photograph of photo ID and recent proof of address to tools@trust-linlithgow.org.uk

You can collect at any time we are open, however on occasion items you need are popular and could well be  returned by someone else on the same day you are due to collect. As such please give us time to process the return, to check the item over and then to hire it out to you.

Return

By default for most items, a hire will be for seven days but this can be increased or decreased when you make a reservation. Please return the hired items as early as you can to help us service them and then pass onto the next hire. If you return on a Monday or Friday please do so before 10:00am. If you return on a Tuesday please do so before 5:30pm. If you need a more time you can extend your reservation or contact tools@trust-linlithgow.org.uk 

Volunteer

We have a wide range of opportunities volunteer with us. Activities from customer support to servicing and checking inventory. You don’t need to be an expert. We provide training so if you would like to assist please get in touch.  tools@trust-linlithgow.org.uk

Repair

We have a new Repair Cafe service operating from The Hub. There are also Repair Cafe Events about every 4-6 weeks.  If you have something that needs repaired or can offer repair skills please contact us. We aim to fix electrical, wood, metal, textiles, and more.

Donate

We have built up an an amazing inventory of items and will be delighted to accept new donations. Email us a picture of the items you are thinking of donating. Thank you.
