WHAT IT DOES
A Forstner bit set is a collection of specially designed drill bits used for drilling flat-bottomed holes with clean edges. These bits have a cylindrical shape with a sharp outer cutting edge and a centering point, allowing for precise drilling without splintering or tearing the material. They can be used to drill overlapping holes, holes on the edge of material, and holes of various diameters.
Forstner bits are commonly used in woodworking for tasks such as drilling pocket holes, creating recesses for hinges, making dowel holes, and creating mortises for joinery. They are also used in metalworking for creating flat-bottomed holes in materials like aluminium and brass.
